Anonymous asked: About Demi Lovato being wrong to blame Disney Channel - see, that's not completely true. An eating disorder may be a mental disorder caused by chemical imbalances, but that wouldn't explain the sudden influx of eating disorders within the past few decades. Did everyone's brains suddenly change? Sort of. The messages sent out by society sometimes tips these precariously balanced chemicals over, and "causes" a disorder, which would otherwise remain dormant. So Demi Lovato isn't completely wrong.

Dually noted, though you’ll notice in my last response I did mention that by her coming out and telling people about her problems it opened doors for people.

Obviously she can place some blame on Disney and media by saying “you put pressure on me” etc. What she can not do is say: fuck you Disney, you fucked me up.

And by “sudden influx”, we are in the generation of media. Notice how it seems a lot of teenagers are getting pregnant nowadays? Teen pregnancy is actually lower than it has previously been, the reason we think teen pregnancy is on the rise is because in earlier years if a young girl got pregnant she was shipped away.

Similarly, people with mental disorders and such did not have blogs or TV to tell their story, it could be considered an “eating disorder epidemic” or it could be called “an influx of social media”

painting-pavements asked: About the Demi Lovato post: I'm a 16 year old girl battling depression which has brought on multiple other diseases similar to the ones that Lovato went through. I was too scared to even say what I was doing to myself to my own mother until I read about what she had been through. She has her flaws, but she's a good role model for teens that are too afraid to speak out. I'm disgusted at the idea that actresses who smoke pot are considered better role models than one who teaches kids to speak up.

I totally get where you’re coming from, while I am not personally battling depression it is nice to hear that someone famous is going through what you’re going through. It makes it easier to deal with as well as makes you not feel as alienated.

What we were trying to point out is that Demi was blaming the Disney Channel for what was happening to her. She, of all people, should understand that depression and eating disorders aren’t just “made”, someone doesn’t call you fat and then you stop eating.

They are both mental illnesses caused by chemical inbalances in the brain and while peoples actions can influence it, it is unfair, wrong and immature to place sole responsiblity on one person or corporation.

Anonymous asked: Demi lavato was bulimic not anorexic.

She suffered from both diseases.

Demi Lovato VS Disney

First of all, let me just say, Demi Lovato has a phenomenal voice and there’s no denying she’s talented. I admire her for that…but only that. She is dramatic, self-absorbed, and a coward.

It makes me extremely angry to see these 12 year-old girls sticking up for Demi and lashing out at anyone who says a single bad thing about her. She cracked under the pressure of Disney Channel because she was weak, not because that’s what Disney does to people. Let’s look at Selena Gomez, for example. I don’t like her, but she’s not associated with Disney anymore and did it without causing a commotion.

Sure, she tends to date whoever seems to be famous at the time, but the girl’s pretty. Selena has a good head on her shoulders and Demi just needs someone to blame for her breakdown.

Disney recently released an episode of the show “Shake It Up!”, and though none of their new shows can compete with old Disney, this show is cute and my younger cousins love it, so they must be doing something right. The episode contained a joke about anorexia, something along the lines of, “I could just eat you up… well, if I ate.”

I’m not saying that it was okay for Disney to put that joke in a children’s show, because I think it’s completely wrong, but Demi did not go about it the right way. I, personally, think that since Demi went to rehab and blamed it all on Disney, maybe this is their way of back-lashing at her? If it is, bravo. She deserves it.

Another thing I want to mention is Demi seems to only care because it’s anorexia and it’s “personal” to her. I found an article that explained this perfectly. A quote from it goes, “If they made a joke about someone who had one leg or one eye (which they have done) do you think she would be so mad about that? No. Why isn’t she standing up for the one eyed people? You have to accept humor for what it is, it’s just humor! It isn’t meant to be taken seriously.”

Please check out this article HERE! Totally worth it!

Overall, I hate how Demi feeds off the attention. She has fans constantly telling her she’s beautiful, and I think it’s a little bit pathetic. She’s way too over the top and needs to fix her shit before she can be a role model for anyone. Even Miley Cyrus, who receives way more criticism than Demi, is a better role model. At least she doesn’t blame everyone else for her problems and faces them like she should. Not impressed with you, Lovato.

I understand people have to go through their difficulties, but there are other ways of going about it. Celebrities claim they hate when the media is in their business, yet they turn around and air it out in public. Sometimes you just need to close the front door.

Deadly Hair Dye?

You’ve probably heard about the girl who passed away after applying hair dye, but do you know the facts?

And if you have no idea what I’m talking about, well then, here you go.

Tabatha McCourt, shown above, was described as bubbly, hyper, and being full of love. She was seventeen years old on the day of her passing October 13th, 2011.

I don’t know about you, but like Tabatha did, I love experimenting with my hair colour. I’ve bleached it, I’ve had streaks, highlights. I’ve been red, purple, every shade of brown, and black. Tabatha was frequently dyeing her hair, so why would she bother to do the allergy test for her new box of hair dye?

Maybe it’s just me, but I never do the allergy test. I didn’t do it the first time I dyed my hair either. I would think you should do it every time you decide to use a new brand of hair dye, but realistically, people don’t. I want to dye my hair now, not in 48 hours.

Tabatha applied the hair dye, waited twenty minutes, headed to the bathroom to wash it out, and then emerged in a panic. She was screaming, pulling at her hair, and began throwing up. Her friend that was with her at the time called 999 (UK 911), but they couldn’t save her.

It is believed Tabatha had a very rare allergic reaction to a chemical in the hair dye, known as p-Phenylenediamine. It is used in dyes that darken hair and make the colour permanent. The head of scientific research at the Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery Association explained that the reaction Tabatha had is extremely rare, and that it would be likely that Tabatha had a predisposition to allergies.

People are encouraged to check product instructions before using and to do the allergy test, though I think I’m going to just stick to low chemical dyes from now on.

Another Comment on Things People Need

For my past two years in high school (I have no idea what I used in elementary school) I have been using a texas instruments calculator

Yes, this ugly piece of work.

It did the job. You know

Divided things and shit.

Though when I learned a new concept and had to understand how to type it into my calculator whatever my teacher said didn’t work and I had to manipulate what they said to get me the right answer.

But you know, it gave me the right answer…

Except when I divided by 10…then it just gave me 0

While the last part may have been because it was old,

my calculator still sucked.

So I just so happened to “lose” this calculator a few days before a chemistry test and insisted that my mother and I went to Staples to buy a new one.

This is where I met this calculator,

this beautiful piece of craftsmanship and math.

Cue angelic music.

This is a magic calculator.

It’s hard to explain, but down to the way the keys click it’s beautiful.

It’s a fantastic calculator in general. I don’t know much of the technical speak, but it is a universal calculator that most teachers use, plus when a teacher says “put your number in and then hit log,”

you don’t have to hit “log (number) log” or anything fancy,

you just do what is the known way to plug in your function.

Beautiful right?

And it’s not even that expensive! Mine was 14$ and the most expensive I saw was 30$,

so get off your butts and get yourself a sharp EL-520x.

SOPA: Stop Online Piracy Act

What is it? I’m not sure I know and from what I have read on the internet, the rest of those writing about it don’t either.

From what I have been able to understand: The U.S. wants to stop piracy, but because they cant stop the real pirates (either from laziness or because they don’t want to go knocking door to door?) they go after sites that could potentially be host to pirates.

They go to host websites and make them change their servers to make sure that those websites that host the ability to download media are not allowed.

Why is this a big deal?

The way they have written the rules is that you don’t need permission from a higher up mother site to take off the content

Previously on YouTube if someone posts content they don’t have permission to use, those who own the content get a hold of YouTube and YouTube takes it down.

Now what they have would be people sitting behind their desks taking content down without permission from anyone, just themselves.

I haven’t been able to find any intensive information so my only opinion on this topic so far is: leave the internet alone.
